Over the last 10 years, Dr. Eastaugh has been developing new database systems aimed at documenting and accessing the kinds of mixed data commonly encountered in scientific analysis of paintings and conservation science. Through projects such as the Pigment Compendium CD-ROM (Elsevier, 2004), for which he wrote the software as well as contributing content, and the Lazurite database system, he has established a notable track-record in this area. AA&R is now able to capitalise on his expertise and code-base, both for its own in-house databases and for developing IT systems for the wider community. In addition to this we are now also building public-access database systems for museums to help with documenting collections.
